Degree Shows

Image
I went to the summer 2016 degree shows at Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication and London College of Fashion. LCF The LCF show was in Shoreditch and it was really busy, there was a wide variety of work from shoe design to photography which was a lot to take in. I spoke to a jewellery design student who said that although she had enjoyed her time there her experience with tutors was not always positive. I liked the sculptural pieces on display but I felt there was a lack of information and people to talk to - it was all a bit confusing.   LCC I didn't like the degree show at LCC and didn't get a good impression of the college. The people weren't very welcoming and there weren't many students around to talk to. The work was very graphics-based which doesn't appeal to me and I didn't find any of it particularly memorable. I knew I would definitely not look further into studying here. ...

Researching Fashion Courses

I started researching fashion courses at different universities. I knew I didn't want to study fashion design but I did want to study something which would lead me into the fashion industry. I went onto the UAL website and looked at undergraduate courses at London College of Fashion . I specifically liked the look of the Fashion Styling and Production course and the  Fashion Photography course as well as t he Fashion Communication course at Central Saint Martins  because of the image making aspects.    I searched for fashion styling courses at universities and discovered that as it is quite a specific course not many universities offer it. There were a few short courses over a year or 6 months at London College of Style but I wanted the university experience.  I looked at Fashion Styling and Creative Direction at Southampton Solent which most interested me as a course but I wasn't sure I wanted to move away from London.
